What is Aquatic Sports Timing?

The Swiss Timing Quantum Aquatic System is a state of the art sports timing solution designed specifically for swimming events. It uses pressure-sensitive touchpads placed at the pool’s finish line, which register each swimmer’s touch to accurately record race times. The system integrates with sensors, touchpads, and other hardware, offering seamless, real-time timing and data processing.

The Quantum Aquatic System is a delicate and complex setup, relying on multiple moving parts to work together flawlessly. The touchpads, start lights and data processing units must all synchronize to provide accurate timing. Each component must be carefully calibrated and maintained for optimal performance.

For Multi Class swimmers, additional start equipment, such as visual start cues, are integrated. Start lights offer clear visual signals, ensuring accessibility and fairness for swimmers with visual impairments. TDI Group ensures proper installation, service, and on-site support for seamless integration of these features.

TDI Group can supply, install, service, and hire out the Quantum system, ensuring it’s set up and calibrated for your event’s needs. We also provide on-site event support, ensuring smooth operation throughout your swimming competition.

The Quantum Aquatic System’s Primary and Secondary Start Boxes and Power Supplies ensure seamless operation and reliability. The Primary Start Box serves as the central hub, processing signals from components like touchpads and start lights, while the Secondary Start Box provides backup functionality. Both boxes communicate continuously with the computer system, ensuring data synchronization and accurate timing. The dual power supply setup (primary and secondary) guarantees uninterrupted functionality, with the secondary automatically taking over during power failures, maintaining the integrity of the timing system and competition results.

The Quantum timing system integrates seamlessly with scoreboards, transmitting race results and times in real-time using reliable connections like Ethernet or data cables. This ensures that accurate, up-to-the-second information is displayed instantly for spectators and participants, enhancing the professional presentation of events.

Start blocks can be integrated with the Quantum timing system to accurately measure reaction times and synchronize the start of a race. When a swimmer pushes off from the block, sensors in the block detect the movement, triggering the timing system to capture the exact moment the swimmer begins. This integration allows for precise measurement of both the swimmer’s start reaction time and overall race time, providing valuable data for competitors, coaches, and event organizers.

The Swiss timing touchpads are an integral part of the timing system, placed at each end of the pool. They are pressure-sensitive mats that accurately record a swimmer’s touch, signalling the exact moment of race completion. This data is transmitted to the Quantum system, ensuring precise, real-time results. The touchpads work seamlessly with the start blocks, sensors, and other components to provide synchronized timing for swimming competitions.

The high-speed video cameras in the Swiss Timing aquatic system record up to 100 frames per second, serving as backup timing devices and offering an additional layer of accuracy. These cameras are particularly useful in monitoring relay races, capturing detailed footage to ensure precise timing and to resolve any discrepancies. This visual backup supports the system's overall reliability, ensuring fair outcomes in competitive swimming events.

The Swiss Timing system offers additional start equipment for enhanced race management, including the LED Flashlight Box, which provides visual cues for swimmers, the Electronic Gun (E-Gun) for accurate race starts, and Loudspeakers to communicate start signals clearly. For backstroke events, Backstroke Ledges are available to help swimmers position themselves correctly at the start. These components integrate seamlessly with the Quantum system to ensure a smooth and accurate start for all swimmers, enhancing the overall timing and race experience.
