What is BMX Timing?

MYLAPS offers a comprehensive timing solution that is widely used in BMX events, ensuring accurate and real-time race data for athletes, organizers, and spectators. The MYLAPS system uses transponder-based technology, where athletes wear active or passive transponders that communicate with timing mats or antennae placed along the BMX track. This setup allows for precise recording of lap times, split times, and overall race results. For BMX, MYLAPS provides a robust system to capture data across heats, semi-finals, and finals, ensuring that every competitor’s performance is tracked efficiently. The system also supports live tracking, allowing event organizers to display up-to-date results for the audience and provides online platforms for athletes to access their times after the race. By using MYLAPS in BMX events, organizers ensure fast, accurate results, enhancing the overall race experience for both participants and fans.

Pro Chip Smart Decoder

The ProChip Decoder is a key part of the MYLAPS system, designed to capture precise timing data during events like BMX races. It works with ProChip transponders, worn by athletes, to record exact times and positions as they cross timing points such as the start, splits, and finish line. Known for its accuracy and reliability, the decoder processes real-time data, enabling instant result displays and updates for both spectators and online platforms. Its durability and seamless integration with MYLAPS software make it an essential tool for delivering professional timing services in high-performance sports.

Detection Loop

A detection loop is a crucial component of the MYLAPS timing system used in BMX events to capture precise timing data. These wire loops are embedded in or placed on the BMX track at critical points, such as the start gate, split sections, and finish line. As riders pass over the loop, it detects signals from their MYLAPS transponders, sending the data to the ProChip Decoder for processing. This setup ensures split times and final results are recorded with millisecond accuracy. Fully integrated into the MYLAPS system, detection loops provide real-time timing data for live results displays, enhancing the efficiency and professionalism of BMX event management.

ProChip Timer

The ProChip Timer, the latest addition to the MYLAPS ProChip System, is a game-changing tool for managing large volumes of ProChips in BMX events efficiently. This innovative timing solution works in tandem with the ProChip Communicator to enable bulk activation and management of ProChips, streamlining event preparation for organizers handling many participants. With its bulk-activation functionality, it allows BMX event timers to quickly verify which ProChips are ready for use and update those that require attention, ensuring all transponders are race-ready. Once activated, the ProChips communicate with detection loops installed on the BMX track to record split times, lap counts, and finish results with millisecond precision. By simplifying ProChip management and delivering highly accurate, real-time data during the event, the ProChip Timer enhances operational efficiency and ensures professional-quality timing for BMX competitions.

ProChip Flex

The ProChip FLEX is a highly versatile transponder designed to work across a range of high-speed sports, making it perfect for BMX events. Riders can attach the ProChip FLEX to their ankle or wrist using an adjustable strap, or for BMX specifically, it can be mounted on the bicycle’s front fork using cable ties, ensuring it is positioned close to the front axle. During a race, the ProChip FLEX sends a unique signal to the MYLAPS system’s detection loops embedded in the track. These loops detect the signal as athletes pass through key timing points, such as the start line, split points, and finish line, capturing the exact time of each passage with millisecond precision. This provides event organizers with real-time, accurate race data, making it easy to track each rider’s performance throughout the race, while ensuring seamless integration into the timing system for fair and efficient race management in BMX competitions.

TableTop Decoder

The TableTop Decoder is a portable and compact device in the MYLAPS timing system, designed to receive and process signals from transponders, such as the ProChip FLEX, during BMX events. This device is typically placed near the detection loops on the track and works by capturing the unique signals emitted by the transponders as athletes pass through key timing points like the start line, splits, and finish line. Once the signal is detected, the TableTop Decoder processes it and records the exact time, ensuring accurate results. Integrated with the broader MYLAPS system, the decoder works seamlessly with the timing software, enabling real-time results displays for both event organizers and spectators. For BMX events, the TableTop Decoder is ideal for small to medium-sized races, providing a professional-level timing solution with minimal setup, while ensuring precise and reliable race data.

Timing Software

SQORZ is a comprehensive timing software used by MYLAPS to manage and process event data in real-time, making it an essential tool for BMX events. While MYLAPS equipment is compatible with many types of timing software, SQORZ is preferred for BMX events due to its seamless integration with MYLAPS hardware, such as ProChip transponders, TableTop Decoders, and detection loops. The software quickly and accurately captures timing data from athletes as they pass critical points like the start, splits, and finish lines, providing real-time results for each participant, including lap times, split times, and overall placements. For BMX events, SQORZ ensures smooth event management, allowing organizers to monitor race progress, handle multiple heats, and resolve timing issues swiftly. Additionally, it supports live results displays, online publishing, and result exports for further analysis. Its powerful features and ease of use make SQORZ the preferred choice for BMX timing, delivering a professional and efficient race experience.

Sporthive

MYLAPS SportsHive is an online platform that seamlessly integrates with MYLAPS timing equipment and software, allowing event organizers to upload, store, and share event results in real-time. After the timing equipment, such as the ProChip system, TableTop Decoders, and detection loops, captures accurate race data, it is processed by the timing software (like SQORZ) and automatically uploaded to SportsHive. This cloud-based system makes it easy for organizers to manage event results, track athlete performance, and provide live updates to spectators. With SportsHive, results can be displayed on various devices, shared on websites, or accessed by participants and fans from anywhere. The platform also stores historical event data, making it a valuable resource for future reference and analysis. By streamlining the process of uploading and sharing race results, MYLAPS SportsHive enhances the event experience for both organizers and participants.
